Partner Drew Svor will be hosting a workshop "U.S. Market Access –A U.S. Regulatory Cheat Sheet for Space & Satellite Companies" on May 28 from 9:00-9:55 AM.

Covered in this session:

We intend to provide a high-level overview of the regulatory considerations smallsat providers seeking to enter the U.S. market should consider. We will divide the presentation into four categories: • FCC Licensing; • National Security (CFIUS, Team Telecom, and Export Control); • NOAA Licensing; and • U.S. Government Contracting. Smallsat operators will care about these topics because addressing these regulatory issues is required in order to launch their services in the U.S. market. Obtaining USG contracts is often critical to a smallsat operators’ ability to prove out its business case and successfully raise capital. Moreover, the two issues are highly intertwined: operators with regulatory challenges in the U.S. often are not able to land the USG contracts that are the lifeblood of a new space startup. We know that many smallsat operators—especially startups and early stage operators—frequently struggle to address these issues in a cost effective and efficient manner, often juggling different advice from different advisors, without receiving commercially-oriented and actionable solutions. The goal of this presentation is to provide “one stop shopping” for the workshop attendees on these topics: when attendees leave the workshop, they will possess a solid grasp of the regulatory fundamentals of doing business in the U.S., as well as an actionable roadmap to effectively implement practical solutions to these challenges.
